Change Page Orientation and Paper Size
Orientation is the direction of the paper when printing. Text is normally printed in portrait orientation with the short sides of the paper at the top and bottom. When the long sides are at the top and bottom the orientation is called landscape.

Depending on the printer attached to your computer you may be able to use different sizes of paper. You should set Word to use exactly the size of paper you are printing on otherwise the documents may not print out correctly. Standard paper in the UK is A4; in the US it is Letter.
Note: Page Setup formatting can be applied either to the whole document or to selected sections in a document and can be made the default for all new documents or changed for each new document started.
